We were fortunate to have a group of very enthusiastic students from Grand
Valley State University join our efforts as part of their alternative spring
break. They were
a tremendous help with getting our new intern house ready that will
house 10 interns at one time.
They also
helped with feeding animals, cleaning the grounds and finishing up our
new super-sized Cotton-Top Tamarin habitat.
Special
thanks to Jesse for helping organize their stay and Shirley from the
1,000 Trails Camp Ground for being such a big help!
Our other volunteers, Neil and Sarah from the UK and our resident intern Stacie
also participated and a number of activities.

stories below:
Brigitte-Thanks so much for
organizing our trip. Our experience was nothing short of AMAZING!!!!! The
campground was gorgeous and we loved every minute of our stay.
Peace River Refuge was an amazing place to volunteer. You gain a deeper
appreciation for all the animals from not only learning the animals stories but
also from working around them and viewing them on a daily basis. Our
volunteering at Peace River Refuge was nothing short of an amazing experience
that will leave a lasting impression on the 11 of us that worked there.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "This was the experience of
a lifetime, and something that I will truly take with me for the rest of my
life. Being an animal lover I thought that the animals would be the only thing
that would make an impact on me, but everyone that we worked with was amazing.
Every little bit we contributed to Peace River Refuge & Ranch helps contribute
to what the Stoners have devoted their lives to, and it is the best feeling in
the world!!"

I had an amazing
volunteering with you during my spring break. Your refuge is incredible and it
was amazing to see the animals and learn about them. This experience really
opened my eyes to many different issues. I learned so much about different
animals and the way they behave. I also learned that no task is too small. Every
thing that we did (whether it was painting a cage, picking up trash, or feeding
animals) made an impact in some way.
You are all such awesome people! You all have such huge hearts and such passion
for what you do. I only hope that I have as much passion and knowledge for
whatever I do in life.
Thank you so much for letting us come down and help out. This was a truly a life
changing experience. I will never forget it.
